James Seeley

Mr. Seeley passed away about midnight Saturday, April 10, from a heart attack. He had seemed apparently in good health but upon reaching home after meeting the 10:45 night train, he became ill and passed away before a doctor could be summoned.

Mr. Seeley was born July 5, 1874 in Scribner, Neb. He attended college in Valparaiso, Ind. On February 17, 1903, James Seeley and Magdalene Johnson were married in Tremont, Neb., where they lived for some time, later moving to Oregon. Mr. Seeley was a conductor on the Chicago Northwestern railway for about 18 years. In 1914 Mr. and Mrs. Seeley moved to Ringling, where Mr. Seeley was postmaster for three years. He also served for several years on the school board and took a prominent part in all civic activities. For the past several years, he has been custodian at the depot for the night passenger train. He also operated the barber shop in Ringling for many years.

He was a member of the Elk lodge and was recently raised to the Master Mason’s degree in Diamond City lodge, A.F. & A.M.

Mrs. Seeley, who was in Washington at the time of her husband’s death, arrived in Ringling last Monday. Other relatives here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Albert Seeley and son of Fort Peck; Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Johnson and Mrs. Harriet Stone of Broken Bow, Neb.
