Jeremy Seeley CANTON - Jeremy Shannon Seeley, 28, of 80 Raby St., Canton, and Fort Campbell, Ky., passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004.

A native of Cherry Point, he resided in Haywood County most of his life and was the son of Joe and Debra Rector Guffey. He attended Pisgah High School, where he was a member of the Pisgah High ROTC and he graduated from Alliance Tractor Trailer Training Center in Asheville, where he received his CDL certification. He was a former employee of Hardee's in Canton and McDonald's in Canton and Swannanoa. U.S. Army Specialist Seeley was currently serving as a mortarman in the 3rd Battalion of the 327 Infantry Division of Fort Campbell, Ky., serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He received the Combat Infantry Badge and the National Defense Service Medal.

Jeremy's quiet and gentle spirit and his belief of "always wanting to help someone" shall never be forgotten. He was a blessing to his family and those who knew him. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Kyla Renee Tolley and her husband, Billy, of Sylva; paternal grandfather, Rayburn Seeley of Canton; two nephews; one niece; and several aunts and uncles. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Crawford/Ray Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, Marshall Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
