SEELEY Joan C. Joan C. Seeley, 83, of Sylvania, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2011 at Ebeid Hospice, Sylvania, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 14, 1928 in Sylvania to Dr. Kenneth and Hazel (Blair) Cosgrove. After graduating Burnham High School and attending MacMurray College, she married Jack, her husband of 52 years. He died in 2000.

After their children were raised, Joan worked at Ethan Allen and later retired from Comstock Furniture. She and Jack retired early to Naples, FL and Maggie Valley, NC, before returning home to Sylvania, the place she loved the most. Enjoying the beauty of nature, she cherished summers spent at Burt Lake, MI and most recently, Merry Lake. Joan loved animals, especially dogs, and leaves behind her faithful friend, Smokey. She proudly lived independently in her own home until illness dictated otherwise last fall.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; husband; their son, Ken; sister, Betty Follas Monaghan, and brother, Blair Cosgrove. She is survived by daughter, Debbie (John) Tarpy; their son, Ryan (fiancée Melissa Nelson) Tarpy; step grand children, Tonya (Mike) Gosselin and John Tarpy, all of Sylvania; daughter-in-law, Theresa Seeley; grand-daughter, Jessica (Danny) Fraguela; great-grand-daughters, Alyssa and Ashley Fraguela, of Cape Coral, FL.

Visitation will be held at Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, OH on Thursday, August 11 from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., where the service will be held on Friday, at 11 a.m. The family would like to thank those who cared for Joan the past 10 months at The Toledo Hospital, Kingston Care Center, Sunset Village, and Ebeid Hospice. Memorial contributions may be made to either of her two favorite charities, Old Newsboys and Goodfellow Association and the Toledo Humane Society.
