Joseph Seeley, 67, of 810 Avery Ave., Syracuse, died Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center.

He was a native and life resident of Syracuse.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he was in the Army and Navy reserves from 1969 to 1989.

Mr. Seeley was a Syracuse police officer from 1948 until he retired in 1972.

He was a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical State Employees Local No. 9. He worked as a stage technician for many years. He also was secretary/treasurer of the union for many years.

He was a member of the American Legion.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Jane Stonger Seeley; five sons, Joseph Patrick of Alexandria, Va., Jeffrey John of Woodbridge, Va., and James Robert, Jerome and John Michael, all of Syracuse; a daughter, Joanne Margret Goodman of Manlius; a sister, Adeline Erhard of Syracuse; two brothers, Alexander and Bruce Seeley, both of Syracuse; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fairchild & Meech Syracuse Chapel. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Calling hours are 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel, 500 W. Onondaga St.
