Sanders Woman Dies at Home

Forsyth Rites Set For Mrs. G. Seeley

Forsyth, Jan. 8 – Mrs. Katherine Seeley, 68, wife of George A. Seeley of Sanders, died at her home Saturday night.

Mrs. Seeley, former Hysham teacher, has been in poor health for several months.

She was born Feb. 5, 1881, in Kingston, Iowa, a daughter of Mr. And Mrs. James Conway. During her youth she lived with her family in Iowa, Nebraska and Missouri. She taught in Clyde, Mo., until taking a position in the Hysham schools in 1909.

She continued to teach in that system until 1913 when she was married in Miles City to Mr. Seeley and they moved to Sanders.

Mrs. Seeley was a member of the American Legion auxiliary unit at Hysham, the Woman’s club and of St. Joseph’s Altar society.

Requiem mass will be said at the Immaculate Conception church in Forsyth Tuesday at 10 a.m. and burial will be in Forsyth. Rosary will be recited at Beals’ chapel Monday night.

Surviving are the widow: four sons, George V. Seeley of Sanders, James R. of Billings, Francis J. of Washington D.C., and Lawrence of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Mrs. Mary B. Ponessa of Big Horn, and three sisters, Mrs. Theresa O’Brien and Mrs. Nellie Mudd, both of St. Louis, and Mrs. E.J. McCormick of Hysham.

This is an appeal in a grade crossing accident from final judgments for the defendant in accordance with a jury verdict in two actions consolidated for trial. The facts in both cases are the same.

George A. Feeley, 73 years old, was killed on October 26, 1950 when the car he was driving collided with a train of the defendant Northern Pacific Railway Company at a railroad crossing in Sanders, Montana. The administrator of his estate, the appellant here, instituted two actions in the District Court of Montana to recover damages. Jurisdiction in that court was based on diversity of citizenship. 28 U.S.C.A. § 1332.
