Kenneth "Gene" Seeley of Grand Junction, CO passed away February 1, 2008. Gene was bom August 25,1921 in Winfield, KS to Ira and Stella Seeley. He moved with his family to Glade Park, CO in 1931.

On February 2, 1947 he was married to Thelma Simpson in Fruita, CO. They had six children.

Gene served in the U.S. Navy in the European Theater as a gunner and radio operator during WWII. He was discharged January 26, 1946.

Gene was a truck driver for Union Carbide. He retired after logging two million miles and 34 years of service.

He had many interests during his long life. All of which revolved around family, friends, horses, and the outdoors. Gene was a lifetime member of the Mesa County Sheriffs Posse since 1965. He was the Rodeo Chairman of the Colorado Stampede Rodeo for many years. During this time he was awarded the lifetime Gold Card to the PRCA. In 1975 he became a commissioned Deputy Sheriff of Mesa County. He was an active member of SARC.

After retirement, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of living the cowboy life. He enjoyed helping his many friends on Pinon Mesa working their cattle. His passion for the outdoors included, trail rides to Blue Lake, team roping, hunting, and fishing his favorite pond. Gene and Thelma spent their summers on Pinon Mesa living the good life.

His greatest joys were his family, many friends and hosting a great party!

Survivors include his wife Thelma of 61 loving years, his six children; Janet and Ron Forsman of Fruita, Lorraine Forsman of Fruita, Joyce and Dale Eiland of Aledo, IL, Linda and Stan Grimmett of Bloomington IN, Kenny Seeley of Grand Junction and Herby and Denean Seeley of Mack. He is also survived by a brother Ralph Seeley, and a sister Margaret Steele both of Grand Junction. Gene had 12 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 7th, 2008 at Callahan Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson, Grand Junction, CO.
