Larry E. Seeley

Larry E. Seeley
of Binghamton

On October 29, 1934 Larry E. Seeley entered this world. On August 13, 2010 after an inspiring battle with cancer, he walked through the gates of heaven to meet his Lord and Savoir, Jesus Christ. He had a reunion with his loved ones waiting there. His mother and father, Irene and Norman Seeley; his daughter, Leila Seeley-Hufford; his brother, Glenn; and his sister, Nina. Waiting to join him in heaven are his beloved wife and best friend, Carol (Brainard) Seeley; his sons, David (Michele) Hesse, Plattsburgh, NY, Dean (Kathy) Seeley, Arlington, Texas; son-in-law, Robert Hufford, Hopewell, VA; and daughter, Diana (Tom) Eaton, Missouri. He leaves behind six grandchildren, Josh (Jenn) Hesse, Rachel Hesse, Chris (Maria) Seeley, Jonathan Seeley, Keith (Rickie) Hufford, and Victoria Hufford; six great-grandchildren, Kaden, Delaney, Josiah, Vincent, Liam, and Jacob. He also leaves a brother and sister-in-law, Norman (Barbara) Seeley; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Norma Clark, and Doris Ann (Jim) Loehr, all of Iowa; also many nieces and nephews. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, spending much of his life serving the Lord he loved. He was a Broome County Legislator, the Commissioner of Public Works for the City of Binghamton, and the Assistant Highway Superintendent for the Town of Union. In the final ten years of his career he was the Supervisor of Water, Grounds, Buildings and Parks for the Town of Binghamton. For eleven years he served as chairman of the Celebrity Waiters Luncheon, which raised funds for the American Lung Association. He served as chairman of the Water Advisory Board for the City of Binghamton, and on many other boards during his life of public service. He always had a smile and handshake for everyone he met. He was a person who genuinely cared about others, and will be greatly missed by many.
