PORTAGE – Lila M. Seeley, age 81, of Portage, passed away in the loving arms of her family on Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at Divine Savior Healthcare, Portage. Lila was born on Aug. 20, 1920, in Fort Winnebago, Wis., the daughter of Byron and Ella Mae (Jered) Wilcox. She graduated from Portage High School in 1938 and later married George A. “Bud” Seeley on July 27, 1946, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Portage. Lila worked at Schultz’s Dime Store, Portage Court House, Red Goose Shoe Store and owned and operated the Anchor Inn Tavern for 11 years. She retired from Rayovac and did demonstrations part-time for Pick-N-Save. Survivors include her children, Gregory L. (Cheryl) Seeley, DeForest, Dawn M. (George) Corris, Dalton, and Gary D. (Mary Tierman) Seeley, Pardeeville; two grandchildren, Carazon (Chris Simeth) Gorton, Portage, and Bryce (Katrina) Corris, Portage; a very precious great-granddaughter, Briana Lee Corris; brother, Edwyn (Evelyn) Wilcox, Wisconsin Rapids; brother-in-law, Marvin Carney, Portage; her very special friend, who was always there for her, Noreen Solheim, Portage; nieces, nephews, other relatives; and many friends. Lila was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; a sister-in-law; two nephews; and a niece. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 8, 2002, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Portage with Father DOnn Heiar presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, March 7, 2002, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Port-Axtell Community Funeral Home, Portage.
