Lila M. Seeley

BEACON – Lila M. Seeley, 75, who retired in 1974 after 10 years in the therapy department of the former Mattewan State Hospital in Beacon, died Friday at her home.

Mrs. Seeley of South Cedar Street had been a resident of Beacon for 54 years.

She was a member of the Church of St. John the Evangelist, 35 Willow St., Beacon.

She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and St. John’s Senior Citizens.

She was born July 25, 1909, in Roseton (Orange County), the daughter of George and Eufebie DuChrame. She was educated in Roseton schools.

She was married July 20, 1930, in Wappingers Falls to William Joseph Seeley, who died Feb. 2, 1974.

Mrs. Seeley is survived by three sons, Thomas G. Seeley of Poughkeepsie, Donald J. Seeley and Joseph E. Seeley, both of Beacon; one daughter, Helen Way of Beacon; one brother, Edward DuChrame of San Francisco, Calif.; three sisters, Lorretta Schamberg of Poughkeepsie, Helen Exum of Liberty (Sullivan County) and Emma Smith of Wappingers Falls; 13 grandchildren: six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hignell Funeral Home, 10 Willow St., Beacon. Prayers will be offered at 8:15 p.m.

Services will be at noon Monday from the funeral home. A Mass of the Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the Church of St. John the Evangelist, Beacon.

Burial will be in St. Joachim’s Cemetery, Beacon.

Memorial donations may be made to the church.
