Lora Inez Seeley


Lora Inez Seeley, daughter of Charles Thomas and Ida May Stirewalt Oakley, was born in Cumberland County on Sept. 24, 1904, and departed this life in Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital on Wednesday (July 15, 1998) at the age of 93 years, 9 months and 21 days.

She was united in marriage to Daniel Allen Seeley on Sept. 23, 1922. He died in 1971. To this union were born 15 children. These children and their spouses are: Maxine (Virgil, dec.) Myers of Greenup; Willard (Vera) Seeley, deceased, of Montrose; Kathleen (Paul) Garrett of Lincoln; Eugene (Genelle) Seeley, deceased; Betty (Charles) Bland of Cisne; Dorothy (Dean) Fogle of Belleville; Norma (Warren) McCloud, deceased; Rose (Max) Cutright of Ashmore; Carol (Larry) Comer of Casey; Vora (Phyllis, dec.) Seeley of Decatur; Ronnie Seeley, deceased; Connie (Kenneth) Parker of Greenup; William (Sharon) Seeley, deceased; Nancy (Ralph) Willoughby of Riverton; Karen (John) Trigg of Toledo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four sons, one daughter, three brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren. Surviving are 37 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Lora Inez was a resident of Cumberland County for most of her life. She was born and reared on the ''Old Center Line Road'' before it was paved, which runs straight west of Toledo. She attended the West White Oak School and was a member of the Mt. Olive Church. Her children fondly remember her singing during her daily activities. She was cheerful, kind, loving and kept her sense of humor to the end. Lora will be missed by all who knew her.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Barkley Funeral Home, Toledo, with visitation one hour before services. Two of her favorite songs will be sung, ''The Old Rugged Cross'' and ''Rock of Ages.'' Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in Toledo Cemetery.
