MRS. LUCY LEIBY SEELEY

LAGRANGE – Mrs. Lucy Leiby Seeley, 85, a native of this community, died yesterday afternoon in Norwalk Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She had been confined to the hospital since Saturday.

Born Oct. 10, 1872, Mrs. Seeley (nee Jackson) had lived in and around LaGrange community for 75 years, later residing in Lodi for seven years. Three years ago, she took up residence with her daughter, Miss Juanita Leiby, principal of Monroeville Public Schools, in Monroeville Public Schools, in Monroeville.

A member of the Lodi Methodist Church. Mrs. Seeley also had resided for a brief time in Michigan.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Myers, Akron, and Miss Leiby, Monroeville; a son, Dayton O. Leiby, San Gabriel, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. John Soule, Cleveland, and Mrs. Charlotte Smith, Winter Park, Fla.; two stepsons, William Seeley, Battle Creek, Mich., and Elliott Seeley, Mo., Megadore, O.; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Her first husband, Gideon G. Leiby, and second husband, Mark T. Seeley, as well as a daughter and a son preceded her in death.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. tomorrow at the Drake Funeral Home, Monroeville, where funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Horst, pastor of the Monroeville Congregational Community Church, officiating.

Burial will be in LaGrange Cemetery.
