Margaret Seeley

Margaret (Peg) Seeley died July 29, 2010 at the age of 91.

She moved to Naples from Akron, Ohio in October of 1993. She was born in Smith's Ferry, Pennsylvania, April 7, 1919.

She attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. In 1945 she married George A. Seeley. During the following years she donated her skills and time for the betterment of her communities through volunteer work. She served as a Red Cross volunteer in Indianapolis, Indiana, during World War II and in Frankfort Germany during the Korean War.

In Akron she was a member of the Board of Directors of the Akron Chapter of the American Red Cross where she served as its Vice Chairman; she was Vice Chairman of the Women's Division of the United Fund Drive, a member of the Women's Board of the Weathervane Playhouse and a Life member of the Children's Home Board. She was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Akron Art Institute (now The Akron Art Museum) and was in charge of two of its Masked Balls.

She served on an advisory ``Town and Gown Committee' of the School of Education of the University of Akron. She was an active member of the Women's Board of Akron Children's Hospital for twenty-nine years serving for two of those years as its president. In addition she was chairman of its Charity Ball and Cotillion for two years.

She was a member of Portage Country Club, and Turkeyfoot Island Club. In Naples she served for three years on the Condominium Board of Tuscany at the Vineyards. She enjoyed traveling and her many friends

Her husband of 65 years, George, preceded her in death on June 21, 2010. She is survived by her sister, Frances Fisher Tait; her nieces, Dorothy Tait Fitzgerald, Anne Tait, Maryanne Sowder and Pamela Votava; her nephews, Thomas Peirce, George Bolte and Charles Bolte.

A private family service will be held in Oak Harbor, Ohio at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends may wish to donate to the Margaret Seeley endowment fund of the Women's Board of Akron Children's Hospital, One Perkins Square, Akron, Ohio 44308.
