Mary Maxine Seeley, 92 of Centerville passed away Friday, December 19, 2008 at Golden Age Care Center. Maxine was born to Homer and Anna (Finney) Sherick on August 15, 1916 in Brazil, IA. She received her education from Mystic High School. She was a school teacher in Brazil, until moving to Chicago in 1935. Maxine married Albert Seeley in 1937 in Cherry Valley, Illinois. The two would move back to Centerville where Maxine would work as a Nurses Aide at Golden Age Care Center and St. Joseph’s Hospital. Maxine enjoyed sewing, cooking and time spent with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. Maxine is survived by three children; Karen Clark of Springfield, Missouri, Reta Root(Lyle) of Belle Plaine, Iowa, Curtis Seeley(Karen) of Centerville; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert Seeley, brother, Williard Sherick, infant brother and a grandson Chad Root.A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, December 29, 2008 at Thomas Funeral Home with Pastor Joan Ervin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior from 1-2 p.m. Internment will be in Oakland Cemetery at a later date.
