M. BARBARA SEELEY CHILDREN'S MIRACLE NETWORK VOLUNTEER

M. Barbara Seeley, 82, of Yarmouth died Friday at a local hospital after an illness.

She was born in the Bronx, N.Y., a daughter of William and Margaret Alexander, and attended schools there. Her early connection to Maine began in the early 1930s when she was a counselor at a Campfire Girl summer camp in northern Maine. In 1938 she married Robert Samuel Seeley. They lived in Port Monmouth and Belford, N.J., until his death in 1988.

Mrs. Seeley was employed for 20 years as a human services manager for Monmouth County welfare board. She retired and moved to Yarmouth in October 1989.

Mrs. Seeley was a member of the First Parish Congregational Church of Yarmouth, a former deacon and volunteered in the church office. She also looked forward every year to preparing clam and lobster rolls for the Yarmouth Clam Festival.

She was a member of the Yarmouth Women's Club, Friends of Merrill Library and was a past president of a Business and Professional's Women's Club chapter in New Jersey.

Mrs. Seeley was an avid reader and loved crocheting baby blankets for the church's annual Christmas Boutique. She volunteered at the Maine Medical Center chapter of the Children's Miracle Network and hosted its ''Kids Photo Contest'' at the Maine Mall.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Corson of Las Vegas and Sandra Walling of Yarmouth; and four grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Mayberry Lane. A funeral will follow at 4 p.m. in the First Parish Congregational Church, Main Street. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Middletown, N.J.
