MURLENE WILDE SEELEY Murlene Wilde Seeley, a 45-year resident of Riverside, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2008. She is survived by her daughters Robin Seeley and Beth Downs, and her grandson, Philip Jouriles. Murlene was born in Auburn, Iowa on January 29, 1922, the daughter of Guy F. Wilde and Anna Grell Wilde. In high school she was a star basketball player who also played the clarinet in school musical productions. After graduating as valedictorian of Fonda High School, Murlene came west to attend Scripps College in Claremont. She went on to obtain her Masters Degree in Education at the University of Southern California and later taught at John Adams Junior High School in Los Angeles. In 1953, she married Frank Campbell Seeley and they had three daughters - Robin, Anne and Beth. Frank was Assessor of Riverside County from 1970 to 1990. Murlene and Frank were enthusiastic world travelers, visiting over two hundred countries together during the course of their marriage. Daughter Robin is an attorney with the California Judicial Council in San Francisco and is married to Greg Jouriles. They have one son, Philip. Daughter Beth Downs works for the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation and is married to Andrew Downs. Murlene was an active volunteer in the Riverside community as a Pink Lady at Riverside Community Hospital, President of Meals on Wheels, and a 50-year member of Chapter HO of PEO. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women. Her many friends will long remember her inquisitive mind and independent spirit. Interment will be private. The family requests donations to Riverside Meals on Wheels, 4845 Brockton Avenue, Riverside, California, 92506 in lieu of flowers.
