SEELEY – Nathaniel Seeley was born in Saratoga Co. N.Y., April 1, 1801 , and died in Ovid, N.Y., Nov. 1, 1887, aged 86 years and 7 months. He came to Ovid in early manhood, and he has been a resident of this place almost without intermission ever since. He was converted when about twenty-two years old, joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, and has always been an honored and consistent member of the same. His home was always a place of welcome to the itinerant preachers, and in the days of his strength his hand and purse were always ready for every good work. Twice married, his first wife departed this life in 1869; his second wife survives him, who with his two surviving children affectionately ministered to him in his declining years. He richly enjoyed the comforting assurance of the Christian religion, and was most truly a happy old man in the absence of his pastor the funeral services were conducted by Rec. J.H. Zartman, of the Lodi Methodist Episcopal church, and Rev. J. Cruickshanks of the Ovid Presbyterian.
