SUMMERTON, SC - Paul Seeley, formerly of Ithaca, died after a long and courageous battle with cancer on his 70th birthday, November 28, 2005, in Columbia, SC. He was the son of the late Fred and Marjorie Seeley of Marcellus, NY.

Paul ran his own excavation and modular home businesses in Ithaca for many years before retiring and moving to Summerton, South Carolina, where he was a member of the Summerton United Methodist Church. Paul left behind a beautiful legacy of organ music, which he played and recorded himself. He also enjoyed flying, boating, and traveling.

Survivors include his brother, John (Charlotte) Seeley of Beaumont, Texas; his sister, Dorothy (Jim) Southard of Cato, NY; his daughter, Ronda (Dennis) Foley of Freeville, NY; his son, Jim (Sue) Seeley of Freeville, NY; a stepdaughter, Nancy (Vince) Kotmel of Ithaca, NY; a stepson, Brion (Marsha) Hunt of Savannah, GA, a stepson, Donald (Linda) Hunt of Savannah, GA; a grandson, James Seeley; as well as several step grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn Seeley; and a brother, Glen Seeley. Heartfelt thanks are given to Jin Gafford, an oncology nurse at Palmetto Baptist Hospital in Columbia, SC, whose shining presence brought him so much peace, and to his many dear friends in Summerton for providing him with numerous moments of joy and inspiration. May you all feel richer of spirit having known and loved him.

Funeral arrangements are being made by Leon A. Oltz Funeral Home, 1435 Danby Road, Ithaca, NY. Calling hours are Saturday, December 3 from 11:00-2:00 followed by a service at the funeral home, Rev. Earl Andrews officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or to a charity of one's choice.
