Bainbridge Island resident Peggy Helen Seeley, age 85, died Sept. 30 at her home on Bainbridge Island.

She was born Nov. 28, 1918 in Helena, Mont., to William Joseph and Helen (Downs) Minkiewitz.

She attended Oregon State University in Corvallis where she studied fashion design. On Oct. 31, 1940 she married W. Emery Hobbs.

For several years they lived in California before moving to Salem, Ore., where she resided, until moving near her family to Bainbridge Island in 2003.

As an interior designer, she was able to blend her professional life with her social life.

Her talent was always in demand and her skill allowed her to make friends with many of her clients. She never tired of working and remained active into her 80s.

In addition to being involved with the activities of her family, she found time to become an accomplished oil painter.

She is survived by two sons, Craig S. Hobbs of Bainbridge Island, and W. Kimble Hobbs of Longmont, Colo.; four grandchildren, Teresa Campbell of Bainbridge Island, Craig A. Hobbs of Seattle, Jorden Hobbs of Longmont, Colo. and Gail Hobbs of Daly City, Calif.; and great-grandchildren Cooper, Colin and Sadie Campbell of Bainbridge Island.

She was preceded in death by one son, Dexter Hobbs in September 2002.

Services will be at Belcrest Memorial Park in Salem, Ore. Remembrances may be made to Hospice of Kitsap, P.O. Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383-3416.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kass Funeral Home, Bainbridge Island.
