WAKEFIELD - Ralph Evans Seeley Sr., 78, died Monday, Dec. 10, in Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, he had lived in the Wakefield community since he was 6. He was a retired federal employee with the Agricultural Soil Conservation Service for Sussex County and a retired farmer.

Mr. Seeley was a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church, where he had served on the board of trustees for more than 40 years.

He was also a member of Wakefield Ruritan Club and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was an avid collector of antique farm equipment and various types of glass bottles.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Rogers Seeley; two daughters, Barbara S. Pond of Sedley and Linda S. Huber of Richmond; two sons, Ralph E. Seeley Jr. and Wayne A. Seeley of Wakefield; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wakefield United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jess V. Staton. Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the residence.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the building fund of Wakefield United Methodist Church, Wakefield 23888.
