Raymond Seeley, 87, of New Philadelphia, died early Friday morning Jan. 26, 2007, at his residence.

Born Sept. 18, 1919, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., he was the son of the late Gerard and Carrie (Hermann) Seeley.

In 1939, Raymond graduated from Poughkeepsie High School. Raymond entered the United States Army Infantry on Nov. 26, 1940. In 1941 he entered the United States Army Air Corps glider pilot program. Raymond flew missions over Europe during World War II and served his country until his discharge on June 10, 1946.

On March 1, 1943, Raymond married Audrey M. Peters Seeley, who passed away on April 28, 2006.

Raymond retired in 1979 after 25 years of service as a route supervisor at the Fitchett Brothers Dairy in Hyde Park, N.Y. After retirement, Raymond enjoyed tennis, fishing and trips with his granddaughters. In 1989, he and his wife moved to New Philadelphia to be close to his family. He and his wife were avid readers and enjoyed visiting their friends at the Tuscarawas County Public Library.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Seeley was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Seeley.

He is survived by his daughter, Kris (Brion) Kenline of New Philadelphia; two granddaughters, Lisa (fiancé) Lee Bonlarron) Kenline of Canton, O., and Brooke Kenline of Columbus, O.; brother, Gerard (Stella) Seeley of Midlothian, Va.; brother-in-law, Roy T. Peters of St. Louis, Mo.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Linn-Hert Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Mr. Seeley will be interred in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.
