Ray R. Seeley Found Dead of Bullet in Auto

Ray Ralph Seeley, 49, 651 West Lander, was found dead in his car Monday afternoon on Cemetery Road from an apparently self-inflicted bullet wound.

Investigating officers said the cause of death was determined to be a bullet wound in the right temple inflicted with a .22 caliber pistol.

Seeley, who had been in poor health, was reported missing since Monday at 9 a.m. by Mrs. Seeley. She notified police at 4:45 p.m. The care was reported by Robert D. Fetter, 379 Park, and Benny Man, 1020 West Clark.

Seeley’s son-in-law, Deputy Sheriff William L. Wade was first at the scene with State Police Lt. Alfred B. Nogo. Wade did not know when he answered the call that his father-in-law was involved Sheriff H.E. Parker said.

Investigating were Nogo, Wade, Fert Hall, Reservation police, Parker, Chief Deputy Sheriff Kenneth Wharton and Coroner Allen J. Manning.

Mr. Seeley had been a resident of Pocatello since 1954, moving here from Spokane, Wash. He was a manager of the Holland Furnace Co.

He was born Jan. 3, 1908, in Tryon, Nebraska, a son of Charles H. and Phebe Daly Seeley. He spent his early years in Nebraska and attended schools there. He started work with the Union Pacific Railroad as a boilermaker in North Platte, Neb., and later transferred to Portland as boiler foreman.

He married Ola Marie (Peggy) Tayne in North Platte Feb. 28, 1929. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church, serving as usher, and was active in the Men’s Brotherhood organization of the church.

He was a member of Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, Oregon Lodge 101, A.F. and A.M., Portland, and of Columbia Lodge of Perfection, Scottish Rite, Walla Walla.

Survivors are his widow and one daughter, Mrs. William Wade; two grandchildren, Cynthia Ann and Deborah Marie Wade, all of Pocatello; his father, Charles H. Seeley of North Platte; two brothers, Lloyd R. Seeley North Platte, and Charles D. Seeley, Walla Walla, and one sister, Mrs. Louis Farger, North Platte.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Downard Funeral Home with the Rev. George S. Thompson of the First Baptist Church officiating . Burial will be in Mountainview cemetery.
