QUEENSBURY - Robert E. Seeley, 76, of Morgan Drive, Queensbury, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Glens Falls Hospital.

Born Oct. 1, 1933, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Basil J. and Anna M. (Garrow) Seeley.

He was a 1952 graduate of Glens Falls High School, following which he entered the U.S. Air Force where he served his country for four years during the Korean War, serving three of those years in Foreign Service.

After his honorable discharge, Bob attended Ithaca College, graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy. While in college, he was named a member of Delta Epsilon National Fraternity.

He joined the Glens Falls Hospital in 1961 as a staff therapist, later being named as director of the department. After 25 years of service, he began his private physical therapy practice in 1984. In addition to his own business, Bob also organized the physical therapy departments at Fort Hudson Nursing Home, Indian River, Ballston Spa and Pleasant Valley.

His involvements included serving as Commander of the American Legion Post No. 553 in South Glens Falls for two years and vice president for five years. He also was parade chairman. Other memberships included the Queensbury VFW Post No. 6196 and the BPOE Elks Lodge No.81, Cronin Road, Queensbury, as a member for two years.

He enjoyed boating, fishing, swimming and running. For five years he swam competitively in the senior group. Bob’s greatest love was his wife, home and family.

Bob was a communicant of the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation, Queensbury, where he was a past parish council member.

In addition to his parents, his son, Brian, his brother, Basil Jr., and his sister, Patricia, predeceased him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Lucille Seeley of Queensbury; two sons, Bruce Seeley of Glens Falls and Bill Seeley and his wife, Noreen, of Kings Park, Long Island; daughter-in-law, Lillian Seeley of Glens Falls; one sister, Shirley Horstman and her husband, Fred; five grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Church of Our Lady of The Annunciation, Aviation Road, Queensbury, with the Rev Joseph Busch, officiating.

Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville.

The family would like to thank Dr. Pillemer, nurses on floor T2 and staff of the CR Wood Cancer Center of Glens Falls Hospital for all the compationate care they provided.
