Rufus Parker Seeley

R.P. Seeley, aged 81 years, died at 7:30 o’clock last evening at his home near Chapmanville, death being due to the infirmities of age. He leaves a wife and two daughters. Mr. Seeley was for many years a farmer in Plum township. He served with the Fourth Pennsylvania cavalry in the Civil war, enlisting in October, 1861, and being discharged in July 1865. On Oct. 7, 1861, he was united in marriage with Sally Ann Sterling, who survives him with three children, E. Dayton Seeley of Oil City, Mrs. M. Myrtle Sweating at home and Mrs. Alice Clark of Geneva, Pa. He also had an adopted son, Lee R. Davidson, also of Geneva, and six grandchildren, on of who is with the American army of occupation now on the Rhine. The funeral will be held at the home Monday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock. Elder S.J. Smook of Geneva officiating.
