Terry J. Seeley, 20, of Dolgeville, Herkimer County, who died Saturday night when his car struck a tree in Salisbury, state police said.

The Seeley youth died about 8 p.m. Saturday when the car he was driving failed to negotiate a curve on Route 29, sideswiped a utility pole and struck a tree.

East Herkimer state police said he was southbound at an apparent high rate of speed when he grazed the utility pole, crossed the road and crashed into the tree.

Dr. Harold Bucklee pronounced the victim dead at the scene Herkimer County Coroner Gilbert Upright of Little Falls ruled accidental death due to compound skull fracture.

The accident occurred about one mile from the youth’s home, police said, sand about one mile from the scene of a 1968 accident in which a brother, Gordon, 23, was killed.
