VERN M. SEELEY SELF-EMPLOYED CARPENTER

The funeral for Vern M. Seeley, 92, of 421 Park St., will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lalonde-Briggs-Frary Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Ingersoll officiating. Spring burial will be in Ogdensburg Cemetery.

Mr. Seeley died at 4:10 a.m. Thursday at his home.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Seeley was a carpenter all his adult life. He and Donald Soper were co-owners of the former Seeley & Soper Construction Co. Mr. Seeley continued to be a self-employed carpenter until recently.

He served in the Navy from 1945 to 1946 and was a member of the Masonic Temple and the American Legion.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Born Dec. 26, 1906, in Gouverneur, son of Fred and Celestine LaFever Seeley, he attended schools in Bishop Mills, Ontario.

He married Mabel D. Gore on March 3, 1926, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur E. Kelly, then pastor, officiating. She died Oct. 11, 1973. He married Hilda Preston on June 29, 1974, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Casselman officiating. She died in 1982.

Surviving are a daughter, Sheila Soper, Ogdensburg; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

A son Meryle, a brother, Donald, and a sister, Helen Weissensil, died before him.
