Holly Hanford Seely

Holly Hanford Seely of Wilton, a former Darien resident and real estate developer, died Monday, Dec. 16, at home. He was 85.

Mr. Seely died of heart failure.

Born Oct. 27, 1911, in Darien, he was the son of the late Charles and Agnes Seely.

He attended King School and Darien High School. Before retiring, he worked as a real estate developer in Darien on the Howard Johnson motel and many other projects in the Holly Lane area. He was a charter member of the Country Club of Darien.

He is survived by his wife, Estelle Seely of Wilton; a daughter, Nancy Seely of Portsmouth, R.I.; a step daughter, Johna Benton of Weston; a stepson, Jorn Rossi of Costa Mesa, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Coleman Seely; and two sisters, Anita Brunner and Virginia Bundegaard.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. today, Dec. 19, at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, with the Rev. Laura J. Ahrens of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church officiating.

There will be a private burial at Woodland Cemetery in Stamford.

There are no calling hours.
