AGED TROY TOWNSHIP RESIDENT DIED FRIDAY

John A. Seely, aged 77, and resident of the Troy Center community for 55 years, died at 4:30 a.m. Friday, at the home of his son, Ralph Seely at Troy Center. He had been failing steadily for the past two months and was recently taken to the home of the son from the Titusville City Hospital.

Mr. Seely was born at Wallaceville on June 20, 1856. He was a member of Steuben Grange for many years and enjoyed a wide acquaintance in Troy township. He was twice married, both wives having preceded him in death. He leaves the following sons: Ralph and Walter L. Seely of Troy Center; Charles and Jacob L. Seely of Oil City, Joseph of Portland, N.Y., and E.B. Seely of Grand Valley. A son, Floyd W. Seely, was killed in action in the World War.

Services in memory of Mr. Seely will be conducted from the Troy Center M.E. church, Sunday at 2:30 p.m. with interment in the Troy Center cemetery.

Funeral services in memory of J.A. Seely were conducted from the Troy Center M.E. church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, with Rev. W.E. Bassett of Townville M.E. church, officiating, assisted by Rev. E. B. Moore of Cooperstown. Three hymns, “The Old Rugged Cross,” “Good Night and Good Morning” and “The Eastern Gate” were sung by Hazel Jones, Mrs. Miles, Charles Jackson and Charles Quay, with Miss Arlene Quay presiding at the piano. The interment was made in the Troy Center cemetery with the following as pall-bearers: Wilbur Trumble, W.A. Bunce, A.H. Ghering, E.W. Prather, Charles Armstron and Frank Marsh.

Friends and relatives from Portland, N.Y., Meadville, Titusville, Oil City, Rouseville, Cooperstown, Franklin, Grand Valley and Erie were in attendance.

Mr. Seely, a retired farmer, died at 4:30 a.m., Friday at the home of his son, Ralph R. Seely at Troy Center, after an illness of two months. He spent most of his life in the community where he died. He was twice married, both wives having preceded him in death. He is survived by the following sons: Ralph R., and Walter L. Seely of Troy Center and Jacob L. Seely of Woodland Heights, Oil City. A son, Floyd W. Seely, was killed in action in the World War. There are three grandchildren, Miss Verda Seely of Erie, Leo and Billy Seely of Troy Center and one great-grandchild, Mary Lou Seely of Troy Center. The deceased also leaves the following brothers: Joseph Seely of Portland, N.Y., E.B. Seely of Grand Valley and Charles Seely of Oil City.
