John Conor Seely

John Conor Seely, 70, of 4650 Buena Vista Road, Santa Barbara, Calif., died last Thursday while visiting in Calgary, Canada.

Born in Pennsylvania on Oct. 5, 1905, he lived most of his life in Pittsfield, where he was manager of the personal loan department at the Pittsfield National Bank until he resigned in 1949. He later was associated with the National Bank of Nevada in Las Vegas, and he retired in 1970 as assistant vice president of the County National Bank in Santa Barbara, now known as Crocker Bank.

In his Pittsfield years, he was one of the county’s leading skiers and a low-handicap golfer at the Country Club of Pittsfield. He was well-known at the Santa Barbara Community Golf Course and was a former member of the Santa Barbara Kiwanis Club and a former member of the Credit Managers Association.

He is survived by his wife, Alice D. Seely, three sons, Arthur W. Seely of Denver, Colo., John C. Seely Jr. of Rochester, N.Y., and William Seely of Pittsfield; a daughter, Sally Young of Milpitas, Calif., a sister, Ruth Seely of Pittsfield, and a granddaughter, Heather Seely.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Welch-Ryce Associates Chapel, Sola at State, in Santa Barbara, with the Rev. William Helmbold of the Unity Church officiating. A private interment was held Monday at Goleta Cemetery. Friends may remember the American Heart Associating or the Unity Church Building Fund.
