John Raymond Seely (1940 - 2014)

John Raymond Seely, 74, of Inglis, Florida, died on December 17, 2014. Ray was born June 6, 1940, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and was the only child of John and Dorothy (Presser) Seely. He graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1959 and he attended Indiana Institute of Technology where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He served briefly in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1968. He was a career employee of National Medical Enterprises, and he was instrumental in the opening of Jedda National Hospital in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1979 and the opening of Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center in Crystal River in 1978. He continued to work at Seven Rivers until he retired in 2002.

He enjoyed reading, computing technology, and he was enthusiastic about the outdoors. He was an active member of the Crystal River Users Group (CRUG) computer club, the American Legion, and the local Freecycle network. He will be remembered throughout the community for his warmth, eccentric humor, charity, and friendship.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne (Briggs); children, Andrew Seely of Tampa, Patrick Seely of Gainesville, and Cynthia Seely of Reynolds, Georgia; brother-in-law, Donald Stilson of Hilton, New York; sister-in-law, Mildred Bettiker of Dunnellon; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A "celebration of life" event was held December 27, 2014 at 13:00 at VFW Post 8698, 520 Highway 40 East, Inglis. Please join his family in remembering the light and love he brought to us all. In lieu of flowers, Ray would have preferred donations in his name to support his granddaughter Megan's ongoing medical expenses.
