Kenneth E. Seely
1928 - 2015

Kenneth E. Seely age 86, of Louisburg, KS. passed away February 6, 2015 at Vintage Park of Louisburg.

Kenneth was born in Yale settlement, near Pittsburg, Kansas on July 19, 1928. He was born in the original Chicken Annies “house” to Reona Hardister and David Seely. Ken moved to McCune in high school. He played and lettered in 3 sports: football, basketball and track. He held the school track record until they switched to the metric system. Ken married the love of his life, Glenna Virginia Deems on June 20, 1947. They moved north to the Kansas City area. After several years the two of them began to grow by adding four boys and they moved to Louisburg, Kansas, in 1966. They were members of the First Christian Church of Louisburg where their family has shared their baptisms, marriages and deaths.

Ken was Scoutmaster for over 10 years, belonged to Middle Creek Riding and Roping Club, LHS Booster Club, followers of Louisburg football, wrestling, track, and various other activities that their boys drug them into. They were KC Chiefs season ticket holders for years and shared in the good years of Chiefs winning seasons. They had a summer trailer at Grand Lake of the Cherokees in Oklahoma. During their working years summers were spent entertaining and boating and fishing with friends and family. Ken and Ginny took dancing lessons with friends and after that were seen at receptions and clubs “cutting a rug.” Ken became a Mason in Louisburg in 1957 and later transferred to the lodge in Grove, Oklahoma, before returning to the Louisburg Lodge and holds dual membership in both.

Ken worked 33 years at Southwestern Bell where he retired and moved to Grove, Oklahoma, full time. They enjoyed motorcycle riding and took several trips across the country to different train stations. Traveling took them to Germany to visit a son and family in the army several times. Ken loved crappie fishing. He later had a passion for woodworking and stained glass. He and Ginny enjoyed Cruise Night with their ‘89 Mustang convertible in Grove.

Ken moved back to Louisburg after the passing of his beloved wife of 62 years. Ken moved into Vintage Park Assisted Living facility, where he received the utmost loving care until he passed away with his family at his bedside.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Ginny, two brothers; Eugene Seely and Harold Seely and his youngest son, Kyle.

Survivors include three sons; Brad Seely and wife Debbie; Mark Seely and wife Sue, of Louisburg and Kirt Seely and wife Tina of Neola, IA; fifteen grandchildren and twenty three great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the First Christian Church or to the Louisburg Masonic Lodge 243.
