Lenora Seely


Mrs. Lenora Seely, 91, of Adel, Georgia, passed away June 22, 2014 at Cook Medical Center in Adel. She was born February 21, 1923 in Jasper County, Illinois to the late Ira Irvin May and Dorothy Ethel Wagner May. She lived most of her life in Richland County, Illinois before moving to Adel in 1994. While in Illinois she served as Deputy County Clerk of Richland County for 18 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Adel and was a volunteer for Hospice of South Georgia and for Hospice of Southeastern Illinois.

Mrs. Seely is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary Dale and Mary Lou Seely of Las Vegas, Nevada; a daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Jim Newberry of Adel; five grandchildren: Sheryl and Chanden Mason, Cindy and Gilbert Simmons, Jenny and Donald Tiemann, Annie and Sean Resta, Matthew and Amanda Harrell; ten great-grandchildren: Jessica and Chanden Strunk, Nicole Mason and fiance Jeremy Schatz, Ruth Marie Simmons, Whitney Simmons, Gavin Tiemann, Tucker McCranie, Dalton Resta, Mason Resta, Anthony James Harrell, and Ellen Rae Harrell; four great-great-grandchildren: Bailix Strunk, Abigail Simison, Keegan Hatfield, and Sophia Schatz; three brothers: Don May and Jon May, both of Newton, Illinois, and Lon May of Martin, Tennessee; and a sister, Helen Rose Matson of Kissimmee, Florida; special family members: Vicki Thomas and Rusty McCranie. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Dwight Seely; a son, Keith May Seely; a son-in-law, Anthony Harrell; a sister, Irene Lois Jones; and two brothers-in-law: Wayne Jones and Jack Matson.

The funeral service will take place Tuesday June 24, 2014 at 7 pm at First Baptist Church of Adel with Rev. Bill Marlette officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until time of service at First Baptist Church of Adel. Another visitation will be held Saturday June 28, 2014 from 10 until 11 a.m. at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney, Illinois with a graveside funeral service at Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney immediately following the visitation with Rev. Robert Seely and Rev. Randy Wickham officiating. Lenora Seely, 91, of Adel, Georgia, formerly of Newton, died Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Cook Medical Center, Adel.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home, Olney. Graveside services will be immediately following in Haven Hill Cemetery, Olney, with the Rev.
