Lucille Marie (Kornack) Seely (1923 - 2015)

Lucille Marie Seely, 92, of Hillview died Monday, March 2, 2015, at White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born January 8, 1923, in Springfield, the daughter of Paul and Marie Tolbert Kornack. She married Howard A. Seely on March 24, 1948, in Springfield, and he preceded her in death on May 10, 2001.

She is survived by a son, Daniel (wife, Claudia) Seely of Hillview; two daughters, Sharon Brown of Winchester and Deborah Deal of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Mike Brown of Winchester, Mark (wife, Janice) Brown of St. Louis, Missouri, Shannon (wife, Kathy) Seely of Lexington, Kentucky, Scott (wife, Megan) Seely of White Hall and Ryan (fiancee, Sarah) Seely of Hillview. There are nine great-grandchildren, Alyssa Littig, Brad Myers, Brett Brown, Kurt Brown, Kayla Brown, Luke Brown, Jackson Seely, Ben Seely and Mara Seely, along with a great-great-grandson, Landon Gound.

Having been born and raised in Springfield, Lucille first worked as a secretary at Memorial Medical Center. During World War II she did her part to serve the country by working at Olin Corp. in Alton. Lucille was the state spelling bee champion when she was in the sixth grade. Following her marriage she enjoyed helping her husband around their farm near Hillview. She loved working outside in the yard and gardening.

Lucille and Howard loved sitting on the front porch, waving at all the people who drove by. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoying time spent with them. She was a member of Hillview Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2015, at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in White Hall with burial at Pine Tree Cemetery at Patterson. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Pine Tree Cemetery or Barrow Baptist Church.
