Lynn Ruel Seely, Pleasant Grove, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born August 23, 1950 to James Dale and Gloria Cleo Nelson Seely. He married Darlene Mecham on August 13, 1983 in the Provo Utah Temple.

After graduating from Pleasant Grove High School, he attended Snow and Utah Technical College. He then earned an associate degree in painting and decorating from Salt Lake Community College. He owned Seely Painting, Inc. and was a master painter where every job was a work of art.

Lynn was involved in the community having served as president of the Lions Club several times as well as cooking thousands of pancakes for Heritage Days. He proudly served his country in Vietnam and was a member of the local VFW chapter. He served in the Provo and Mount Timpanogos Temples for over twenty years because of his love of the gospel and his desire to serve.

Lynn's quick wit, contagious smile and outgoing personality influenced many people including his painting buddies, those he worked out with at Gold's gym and the children he visited as "Santa".

Lynn is survived by his wife Darlene, his daughter Amy (Kevin) Amsden, five grandchildren, brother Nelson (Patty), brother-in-law Clyde (Cheryl, deceased) Morgan, and numerous nieces and nephews which he loved. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Cheryl.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 11:00 in the LDS Chapel located at 455 East 200 South, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the services.
