Born in Milford, Michigan, on August 8, 1925 - Passed away in Ithaca, NY, on October 23, 2014. He was predeceased by his parents, Curtis and Agnes (Grist) Seely and by his first wife and the mother of his children, Mary (Valentine) Seely. Survivors include his wife, Rose Smith Seely; one sister, Jean Alve, and one brother, Neil (Liz) Seely; two daughters: Gretchen (Mark) Liebi and Jean (Tony) Guardiola; two sons: Stuart (Margo) Seely and Frederick Seely. Miles is also survived by two step-daughters: Jacquelyn (Larry) Pataki and Kandace (Don) Van Gorder; one step-son: Kenneth (Beth O'Donnell) Smith, Jr.; one niece and four nephews; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Miles served in the Army Air Corps from 1943-1945. He was a dairy farmer in Spencer, and he drove school bus in Spencer, NY, and in Cobleskill, NY. He owned a Surge business in Cobleskill and retired from Borden Dairy as a lab supervisor. As a member of the Spencer Federated Church, Miles served on the church board and sang in the choir. He served on the Spencer Historical Society Board, the Evergreen Cemetery Board, and he was also a member of the Hollybrook Country Club in Spencer. Miles was a skilled woodworker who generously shared his talents with many. He was forever generous, delighted in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and never ended a phone call without saying, "I love you."

Calling hours will be Sunday, October 26, from 3:00-5:00 P.M., at Allen-Manzer Funeral Home, 56 N. Main Street, Spencer. There will be a celebration of Miles' life at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 27, at the Spencer Federated Church with a luncheon to follow in the church fellowship hall.
