Orange Henry Seely


Castle Dale - Orange Henry Seely, age 94, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 at his home in Castle Dale leaving his earthly home to a spiritual reunion. Henry was born Oct. 18, 1919 in Castle Dale to Henry Alonzo and Emma Jacobsen Seely. He married Marva Keele in Elko, Nev. Dec. 24, 1956, gaining four daughters. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on July 3, 1979.

Henry was raised in Castle Dale until his senior year of high school when he moved to Salt Lake City and graduated from Granite High School. He served his country in the U.S. Armed Forces. He later worked at Hill Air Force Base as a produce manager, and as a fire fighter in Ogden, before returning home to help on the family farm.

Later on he worked at the coal mines, and worked construction on I-70. He participated in the Castle Valley Pageant as the wagon driver, cherishing the chance to honor his heritage.

Henry is survived by his daughters: Sandi (Tony) Smith of Moab, Terri Smith of Grace Idaho, Vania (David) Smith of Grace, Idaho, and Cathie (Ray) Taylor of Las Vegas, Nev; 12 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; sister-in law, Paulmina Seely Day; and three nieces, Paula, Jackie, and Carrie Lynn.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marva; parents, Henry being 2 years old when his mother, Emma, passed away; brother, Jacob E. Seely; son-in-law, Ellis Smith.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Castle Dale LDS Stake Center (35 East Main). There will be a viewing Tuesday, June 10, from 6 - 7 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary (720 N. Center St., Castle Dale) and on Wednesday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center prior to the services.

Interment will be in the Castle Dale City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Henry at www.fausettmortuary.com.
