Peggy Jean Seely

Santa Clara, UT

Peggy Jean Henrie Seely, age 80, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014, at Dixie Regional Medical Center, in St. George, UT. She was born May 25, 1933 in Roosevelt, Duchesne County, UT, to Clive and Pearl Marie Nelson Henrie, the first of 3 daughters.

Peggy entered this world during the Great Depression years. Looking for employment, her father moved the family to San Diego County where they eventually settled in El Cajon. The "Henrie Sisters" were gifted musically and were a popular trio, singing at church and school events, service club luncheons, competitions, and even on TV. They caught the attention of Morris Seely, who served an LDS mission in San Diego and also loved to sing.

Graduating from Grossmont High, Peggy attended BYU where she and Morris were reacquainted and began dating. They were married June 25, 1953 in the Manti LDS Temple. They raised their six children in Vista, CA where Morris taught school.

Peggy was a devoted wife and mother. She loved music, sewing, embroidery, and crocheting, and was also known for her homemade bread, her compassionate service, and pantry full of home canned fruits. She actively served in the LDS church as a teacher, leader, and music director in the Sunday School, Primary, YW, and Relief Society organizations as well as teaching Seminary for five years. However, Family History work was her true passion.

After Morris' retirement, he and Peggy returned to Utah and settled in Santa Clara. Preceded in death by her husband six years ago, they are once again reunited.

Peggy is survived by her two sisters, Connie (Lloyd) Beal and Lorraine (Terry) Hibler. She and Morris leave behind their six children: Rebecca (Jim) Lund of Escondido, CA, David (Kristina) Seely of Santa Clara, Bonnie (Mark) Packard of Carlsbad, CA, Laurie (Doug) Pickron of Temecula, CA, Keith (Mary) Seely of Hurricane, and Kathleen (Bill) Crookshank of Temecula, CA. Morris and Peggy's influence extend to their 27 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Jan 25, 2014, at 2:00 pm at the Santa Clara Valley Chapel on Santa Clara Drive. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be in the Santa Clara City Cemetery.
