Ralph Seely

Ralph “Uncle Sam” Seely, age 76, of Edmonds, passed away December 5, 1998. Born December 14, 1921 in Grants Pass, Ore. to the Rev. George and Lucy Seely, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was Past Exalted Ruler of Lynnwood Elks #2171, Chairman of the Americanism Committee. He and his wife, Donna, were known as Uncle Sam and Betsy Ross in local parades representing Northwest Freedom Foundation. They were both Edmonds ambassadors and involved in the Edmonds July 4th Parade Committee. They both received the Douglas MacArthur Memorial Award for patriotic volunteer work.

Ralph was a local painting contractor owner of T.O.P. Painting. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Donna; daughter Laura Seely of Lynnwood; daughter Jeanne Parker of Livermore, Calif. and daughter Cathy Lee of Bothell; granddaughter Mandy Harris of Lynnwood and grandson Joe Dawson of Livermore, Calif.; brother and sister Rev. James Seely of Medford, Ore., Eugene Seely and Evelyn Clark of Grants Pass, Ore. and nephew Chuck Seely of Seattle.

Memorial services were held 4 p.m. Saturday, December 12 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lynnwood with reception following at Lynnwood Elks.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Hospice of Elks National Foundation.
