Catherine M. Seely, 91, of 19144 Mud Lake Road, Dubuque, formerly of Dyersville, Iowa, died Friday, May 20, 2005, Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque.

Memorial services will be held by the family at a later date. The Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Seely worked at A.Y. McDonald Mfg. Co. for 30 years.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1914, in Dyersville, daughter of Gerhard and Barbara (Ertz) Freiburg. She married Donald A. Seely on Dec. 16, 1944, in Chicago; he preceded her in death in April 1987.

She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the National 600 Bowling Club.

Catherine was an avid gardener, an animal lover and enjoyed caring for her dog and birds.

She was the last surviving member of the Freiburg family.

Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth J. Early, of South Beloit, Ill.; her grandchildren, Diane (Gary) Piper, of Janesville, Wis., Linda Early, of Monroe, Wis., Susan (James) Jungblut, of Dubuque, Mary Ann (Danny) Harding, of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., Michael Early, of South Beloit, Annette Spencer, of Rockford, Ill., Larry Welchert, of Frenchberg, Ky., and Jennifer (Paul) Magiera, of Greer, S.C.; and nine great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Robert Welchert.
