Eric Hathaway Seely

Former Alaska resident Eric Hathaway Seely, 35, died Jan. 15, 2002 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

A memorial service was in Seattle at Harborview Medical Center.

Mr. Seely was born Feb. 11, 1966, in Missoula, Mont. He attended schools in Spokane, Wash., and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, until 1982 when he moved to Alaska with his family.

Mr. Seely had worked in the cabinet business and as a laborer.

His family wrote: “During the past few years, he had divided his time between Anchorage and Seattle.

“Eric was good at playing the guitar and singing, playing pool, chess, camping, walking, spending time with his daughter and family. He was an expert at playing with the yo-yo. He loved children and they loved him. He had a unique sense of humor and an irresistible smile.

“At his memorial service several of his friends spoke and had nice things to say, some of which were quite humorous.

Mr. Seely is survived by his parents, Cris and Ginger Seely of American Falls, Idaho; daughter, Alissa Loraine Seely-Kipp of Kenai; sisters, Catherine Fretwell of American Falls and Laura Milks of Rathdrum, Idaho; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gay of Baton Rouge, La; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
