Eugene A. "Gene" Seely, 94, of Grants Pass died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006 at Highland House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

No services are planned. Chapel of the Valley-L.B. Hall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Seely was born May 29, 1912, in Snohomish, Wash., to George and Lucy (Waggnor) Seely. He moved to Grants Pass when he was 12 years old.

At age 15, he began his career as a long line freight truck driver. He worked for ONC for 30 years and retired at age 62.

He later returned to work and retired again at age 71. Throughout his career, he drove more than 3 million miles.

He returned to Grants Pass in 1986.

On June 13, 1988, he married Myra Twining, who died Feb. 2, 2002.

He was a member of the Western Conference of Teamsters and the Apostolic Faith Church.

Seely enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include a son, Roger Seely; a sister, Evelyn Clark of Grants Pass; and three grandchildren.

A daughter, Georgia Seely, died before him.
