James M. Seely

James M. Seely, age 77, passed away August 17, 2001, at home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born August 5, 1924, to Fearne and Augusta Starr Seely. He is survived by his brother Ralph and his beloved wife of 44 years. He and Jerry were not only “lovers,” but best friends and had many great adventures together. His daughter Donni has lovingly attended to him during his illness. He will be missed by his four children, 16 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He served as a fighter pilot in WWII and on the Los Angeles fire Department for 20 years. As a young man, James began building cars and racing cars which was one of his passions to the end. He enjoyed restoring cars with his son Dave, and taking them to the races. The family lived in Hawaii for 20 years and was loved by the Polynesian people both in Hawaii and in St. George.

Grandpa Jim is a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many people. He was always a great example, and a very giving man. He enjoyed flying, racing cars, opera music, and especially family. He will be remembered always as a wonderful, loving man and faithful servant of the Lord.

A memorial service will be held on August 25, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the LDS Manzanita Chapel in Bloomington.
