Publication SEELY, Janet Anne (Macdonald)

April 19, 1926-Dec. 25, 2011

Jan passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her on Sunday, December 25 in Sacramento, CA after a brief illness. Jan was born and raised in Berkeley, CA. She attended Berkeley HS and then UC Berkeley where she was a member of AOP sorority. At UC she met and married her husband William M. Seely in 1946. Jan and Bill moved to San Carlos where they raised their two children, Karen and Bill. Jan was active in both her children's schooling, as well as being a charter member of both the Trinity Presbyterian Church (50 years) and the local branch of American Association of University Women, AAUW (50 years). For over 20 years Jan volunteered as a docent for the lovely gardens of Filoli in Woodside near her home. After Bill's death in 2004, Jan moved to River's Edge in Sacramento to be near her family - daughter Karen Seely Martin and granddaughters, Lisabeth Martin Varanini (Nico) and Molly Martin Brown (Logan). At River's Edge she was a member of the hospitality committee, the resident cou

ncil, and several bridge groups where her good cheer and gracious nature earned her staunch friendships among both staff and resident neighbors. She will always be remembered for her sweet optimism and her never-failing kindness to all she met in life. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Jan 7 at 2pm at River's Edge on Feature Drive in Sacramento. Donations in Jan's memory maybe made to AAUW Funds (contact: sancarlos-aauw@earthlink.net or Filoli (www.filoli.org/support). Arrangements by George L. Klumpp Chapel of Flowers.
