Jean English Seely, 91, of Brevard, died Sunday night, March 19, 2006, at Transylvania Community Hospital following a lingering illness.

She was the daughter of the late Dr. Edwin Strawbridge and Leila Picklesimer English.

She was a graduate of UNC-Greenville, and the wife of the late Theodore Sawyer Seely, district ranger of the Pisgah District. She was a faithful and devoted member of English Chapel, a church established by her grandfather, Alexander Fletcher English, in 1860.

She is survived by two sons, Langdon Leigh Seely of Brevard and Robert Henry Seely, and his wife, Nevie, of Grand Saline, Texas; a sister, Katherine English Anderson of Brevard; four grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home with the Rev. R. Lee Eakes officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah Gardens, Pisgah Forest. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
