NAPLES, FL - On March 11, 2008, John Day Seely passed away at his residence in Naples, Florida after a short illness. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Diane; his daughter, Deborah, her husband, Kevin and his grandchildren, Parker and Peyton of Atlanta, Georgia; his daughter, Mary S. Sitaras, her husband, Rev. Michael and his grandchildren, Nicholas, John, Alexander and Christina of Longmeadow, Massachusetts; his son John and his wife, Joanna of Ellijay, Georgia; and his son, James of Las Vegas, Nevada.

He was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on December 26, 1932, the son of John Day Seely and Mary Archer Williamson. He graduated from Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a graduate of the Cornell School of Hotel Management in Ithaca, New York. He was a past Commander of the Hilton Head Power and Sailing Squadron. John will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, kindness and Christian philanthropy.

There will be a memorial service at Salem Funeral & Cremation Service in Winston-Salem, NC on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 2 p.m. with interment immediately following at Salem Cemetery.
