WAKEFIELD FUNERAL SET FOR J.L. SEELY

A funeral for John L. Seely, owner of John L. Seely Insurance Agency, will be held tomorrow at 3 p.m. at Purviance Funeral Chapel here. Burial will follow in Wakefield Cemetery.

Mr. Seely, 61, a lifelong resident of Sussex County, died yesterday in a Richmond hospital.

A U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II, Mr. Seely was on the staff of Purviance Funeral Home for more than 30 years.

He was a member and deacon of Wakefield Congregational Christian Church and a former superintendent of the church's Sunday school.

Mr. Seely was a member of the American Society of Chartered Life Underwriters and a past president of Wakefield Ruritan Club. He also was a member of Wakefield Lodge No. 198 AF&AM and Hopewell Moose Lodge.

A musician and singer, Mr. Seely was a trumpet player for the Dixie Vagabonds Band and a member of the Commonwealth Chorus.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sarah "Dottie" Ford Seely; two daughters, Miss Katherine Gertrude Seely of Atlanta and Miss Jacquelyn Seely of Lynchburg; two sons, John Frederick Seely of Key Largo, Fla., and Walter Daniel Seely of Kemah, Texas; his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Walter C. Seely of Wakefield; a brother, W.C. Seely of Wakefield; and one grandson and one stepgrandson
