Death Takes John Seely

BUCKLEY – John Seely, 79, a resident here for many years, died Friday afternoon at the home of Chester Raybold of Sherman, where he had lived for the past few years.

Mr. Seely was formerly a mail carrier at Buckley. In the early 1900’s he operated the train depot post office and later carried rural mail. He also drove school bus when the buses were horse drawn wagons.

The body was taken to Nugent funeral home, Mesick, where it will remain until the funeral. The funeral will be held Monday. Final arrangements are incomplete pending the arrival of relatives.

He is survived by two sons, Clare Seely of Shermanstown, Penn., and Robert Seely of Davisburg; two brothers, Benjamin Seely of Berrien Springs, and Jesse Seely of South Bend, Ind.; and a sister, Mrs. Kelly Reynolds of Allegan.

SERVICES FOR PIONEER

Funeral services were held Monday from the Nugent funeral home in Mesick for John Seely, 79, who died Friday. Mr. Seely was a retired mail carrier and had lived in the Buckley area for many years.
