John S. Seely, 65, of Duck Lake Road, RD2, Red Creek, N.Y.. died Saturday, August 21, 1982 at Auburn Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

A native of Greece, Mr. Seely lived in the Rochester area most of his life until moving to the Red Creek area in 1968. He owned and operated the Seely Nursery in the Red Creek area since 0968, prior to that he worked as a nursery representative for many years. He is a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by two sons, Richard Seely of Red Creek and John Seely of Melville, Long Island; two brothers, James of Churchville and Steven Seely of Greece; two sisters, Mrs. Jane Flynn of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Ann Rawlins of Fountain Valley, Calif.; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 1982 at the Jewell Funeral Home, N. Main St., Red Creek and at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by the Rev. William Gordinier.

Burial will be in St. Thomas’ Cemetery, Red Creek.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, N. Main St., Red Creek.
