Joseph Boyd Seely 1923 ~ 2010

Boyd Seely passed away peacefully surrounded by family March 15, 2010. He was born July 31, 1923 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Ruel H. and Anna Eula Jorgensen Seely. Boyd grew up in Mt. Pleasant. After graduation he attended Snow College in Ephraim. He then served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a B-24 Heavy Bomber gunner. At age 24, he accepted a call to serve a LDS mission in the Western Canadian mission. After his mission, he returned to Canada bringing home his sweetheart Patricia Clark. They were married on September 14, 1950. Patty his sweetheart passed away Jan. 27, 1978. Boyd and Patty had four children: Joe, Michelle, Jeannette, and an adopted son Robert. Boyd then renewed old acquaintances with Betty Sumsion Darden. They married on Feb 6, 1979. Boyd worked at Geneva Steel for over 40 years and lived in Pleasant Grove since 1950. He was actively involved with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the community. He loved gardening, singing, horses, and his family. He leaves a grand legacy: four children, Joe (Joan) Seely, Michelle (H) Nielsen, Jeannette (Kraig) Higginson, and Robert (Ann Marie) Seely; three step sons: Jim (Jeanette) Darden, John (Chris) Darden, Bill Darden; 26 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren; sisters Leone (Ross) Smith and Helen (J.H.) Harvey. He was preceded in death by Patty (wife), siblings Dale, Morris, Claire, Eva Adella, granddaughter KeriLynn Nielsen, great-granddaughter Olivia Loveless, and step-son Andrew Darden. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove Manila Stake Center, 950 East 850 North, American Fork (next to the Mt. Timpanogos Temple). Friends may call Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Monday one hour prior to services. Interment will be held that same day in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. with military honors conducted by the American Legion. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
