Joseph Henry Seely


Joseph Henry Seely, age 94 years, died Sunday, August 30, 2009, at Landmark Care Center in Hammond, LA. He was born in New Orleans on March 28, 1915 and was a resident of Tickfaw, since 1968 when he retired from the IRS. He was a World War II Army veteran, having witnessed the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. After the he was the first Louisiana resident to be discharged in 1945. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Dimaggio Seely, his parents Joseph and Leona Ritter Seely, and his two brothers, Stanley E. Seely and Russel C. Seely. He is survived by his nieces, Joyce S. Hensley of Baton Rouge and Lorraine S. Pecot of Slidell and his great nephew and nieces, Russel L. Pecot, Jennifer P. Gordon, Victoria P. Verges and Catherine Hensley as well as nine great-great nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at Our lady of Pompeii Catholic Church, from 9:00a.m. until services. Services will be held at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church, Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at 11:00a.m. Interment will follow in the Tick Catholic cemetery.
