Lester M. Seely of Akron Succumbs at age of 71

Lester M. Seely, 71, a long-time resident of the Akron area, died at the Akron hospital after a three-week illness.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Union Creek Lutheran church west of Akron. Rev. David Roy officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Seely was born June 26, 1891 in Sioux county. He married Hannah Johnson March 13, 1914 at Elk Point, S.D. He resided in Union county on a farm until 1950 when he came to Akron.

He was a member of Union Creek Lutheran church, a director for 25 years of West Union school district, and a board member for 20 years of the Farmers Co-operative of Akron.

Survivors besides the widow are a son, Eldon of Akron; two daughters, Mrs. Vera Peterson of Alcester, S.D., and Mrs. Lorene Hinrichs of Crete, Ill., two brothers, Clem of Sioux Falls, and Floyd of Gettysburg, S.D.; a sister, Mrs. Eliza McMahon of Medford, Ore., and four grandchildren.

DEATH SUMMONS LESTER M. SEELY AFTER ILLNESS
Last Rites Are Held Monday Afternoon For Akron Resident

Lester M. Seely, a longtime resident of this area, died at the Akron hospital Friday after a three week illness, aged 71 years, aged 71 years, 7 months and 6 days.

Mr. Seely was born June 26, 1891, at Hawarden, Iowa. He married Hannah Johnson March 18, 1914 at Elk Point S.D., and they resided in Union county on a farm until 1950, when they retired and came to Akron.

He was a member of Union Creek Lutheran church, a director for 25 years of West Union school district, and a board member for 20 years of the Farmers Co-operative of Akron.

Survivors besides the widow are a son, Eldon, of Akron; two daughters, Mrs. Vera Peterson, of Alcester, S.D.; and Mrs. Lorene Hinrichs, of Crete, Ill.; two brothers, Glen, of Sioux Falls; and Floyd of Gettysburg, S.D.; a sister, Mrs. Eliza McMahan, of Medford, Ore.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Orval, 10, in 1930, and three brothers.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Union Creek Lutheran church, Rev. David Roy officiating. Music was by Mr. Dennis Hultgren, Mrs. Margaret Stoutenburg and Mrs. Robert DeRemer, vocalists, and Mrs. Henry Flickbohm, organist. Honorary pallbearers were Clark Tindail, Dwight Nylund, William Philips, Andrew Bredall, Marvin Zinn, Fred Claesson, Sr., Alve Ericson, Fred Lucksen, Ed. B. Borchers and Clarence Hummel, officers and directors of the Farmers Co-Operative. Active pallbearers were Emery Powell, Max Vreugdenhil, Marvin Powell, Marvin Seely, Archie Powell and Gerald Abraham. Burial was in Union Creek Lutheran cemetery.

Relatives in attendance from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hinrichs, of Crete, Ill.; Glen Seely and Marvin Seely, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Floyd Seely, of Gettysburg, S.D., Mrs. Hannah Abraham and son of Sioux City, and several from Hawarden and Ireton.
